B-EM (BBC Basic) - Linux
« on: July 17, 2013, 12:45:11 AM »
I was able to get the B-EM version of BBC Basic running on Ubuntu 64.

The BBC Microcomputer User Guide

Acorn BBC BASIC Reference Manual

BBC User Guide 1.00

An Introduction to Programming BBC BASIC for Windows

Hints

F11 - Menu / File-->Exit
F12 - Break (reset)
Shift-F12 - Boot/Start program image

Here is my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit compiled version of B-em. It includes the ROMs/Disks/Tapes & BBC emulator. I would be interested if this runs out of the box without having to install any other dependencies. (Allegro 4.x, OpenAL, ALut and Zlib) Drop me an e-mail (support @ scriptbasic.org) if you have a chance to give this a try.

This is the Windows version of the BBC emulator running under Wine 1.6 on my Ubuntu 64 bit laptop. The Windows version seems a bit more refined.

It would be nice to see the source code to these games and examples. I'm not up to speed with the BBC emulator yet to convert the disk/tape images to BBC BASIC code. The Windows version of the emulator allows a IDE disk option which I assume allows loading text BBC BASIC programs. It would be great if Richard from the BBC BASIC for Windows commercial version would mentor this project on All Basic.

I have taken the BBC BASIC topic as far as I'm willing to go at the moment. My hope is Richard might find this of interest as a way to migrate BBC emulator users to his commercial enhanced Windows version. He has an open invitation to join the All Basic developers forum.
